A Note from John Spinale, Disney’s Senior Vice President of Social Games
It’s easy to identify a truly great game when you play one, and that was the experience the Playdom team had when we first played Spry Fox’s Triple Town. And we’re not alone, it’s been recognized as one of the best Facebook games to launch in 2011. If you’ve already played Triple Town, you probably know exactly what I’m talking about…the team at Spry Fox developed one of the most fun and addictive games we’ve played in a long time.
It’s the kind of creative gameplay we’re committed to bringing to our players. So beginning next week, Playdom will be publishing Triple Town on Facebook. With this partnership, we believe we can bring this game to millions of new players – and I encourage you to become one of them!
Playdom’s in-house development studios are still hard at work developing some of the most popular games for Facebook, but we also recognize that there are a lot of independent social game developers creating amazing new experiences too. We don’t have to develop every great social game, but we want to bring as many of them as possible to our users. And that’s why you can expect us to partner with independent developers like Spry Fox.
If you haven’t already played Triple Town, it’s an original puzzle game that invites players to build their cities by matching three or more game-pieces: combine three grasses to make a bush, three bushes to make a tree… until you’ve filled the board with houses, cathedrals and castles. Along the way, you’ll have to outwit bears and ninjas who try to block your progress. You’ll have to think several turns ahead to avoid inevitable gridlock as unfinished buildings, bears and ninjas start to pile up.
It’s a simple, yet challenging game that can be played for minutes or hours at a time.
The team at Spy Fox will retain complete creative control, so you can expect them to keep doing what they do best…but hopefully for a much bigger audience.
Now let’s go catch some bears.
